Miami’s Rueben Bain Named Week 1
“Player of the Week” by Lott IMPACT® Trophy
Bain was part of game sealing sack to defeat Notre Dame in season’s opening week
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Sept. 3, 2025 — The Lott IMPACT® Trophy presented by Allied Universal®, today announced that University of Miami defensive lineman Rueben Bain has been named Week 1 “Player of the Week” for the 2025 college football season.
Bain led the Hurricanes with six tackles (three solo, 0.5 for a loss), to go with an interception, and two hurries in Miami’s win over Notre Dame. He also was a part of the sack that secured the victory.
A member of the 42-player Watch List for the 2025 Lott IMPACT® Trophy, presented by Allied Universal, Bain was an All-ACC honorable mention last season, despite missing the final four games of the regular season due to injury. Bain was a freshman All-American and the ACC’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2023.
As part of the recognition, Allied Universal, in conjunction with the Pacific Club IMPACT® Foundation, will make a donation to the University of Miami general scholarship fund in Bain’s honor.
Other nominees for the Lott IMPACT® Trophy, presented by Allied Universal, Week 1 “Player of the Week”:
Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU: Had an interception, with two passes broken up and allowed one reception in eight targets. Also made two tackles in Tigers 17-10 win over Clemson.
Gabe Jacas, LB, Illinois: Forced a fumble, made two sacks, among his five tackles (four solo, 2.5 for a loss) and had two hurries in Illini’s 52-3 rout of Western Illinois.
Jermaine Mathews Jr., CB, Ohio State: Made an interception and broke up a pass, to go with four tackles in the Buckeyes 14-7 victory over then #1 Texas.
