NEWPORT BEACH, CA. – Washington linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven has been named the Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week.
The 6-0, 222-pound senior from Menlo Park, Ca. had a career high 20 tackles (14 solo), forced two fumbles and recovered one in a 27-20 win over Arizona State.
He was also named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
A standout in the classroom, Burr-Kirven has made the Academic All-Pac-12 team and the Academic All-District Eight team twice.
Says the Huskies’ defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake: “He plays at one speed. He practices the same way. He diagnosis plays so quickly.”
Burr-Kirven, who has 30 more tackles than anyone else on the team, has 53 so far this season.
Washington will receive $1,000 for its general scholarship fund in recognition of his performance.
The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation sponsors the Lott IMPACT Trophy and has donated more than $1.5 million to universities and charities throughout the country.

David Leisring, S, Dayton: Led team with 12 tackles and had his 12th career interception in win over Davidson, 42-21.
Cameron Smith, LB, USC: Led Trojans with 15 tackles (12 solo) with two tackles for losses in win over Washington State, 39-36.
Drue Tranquill, LB, Notre Dame: Contributed 8 tackles, two for losses and a sack in win over Wake Forest, 56-27.
Devin White, LB, LSU: Recovered a fumble, had 11 total tackles, 2.5 for losses with a sack in win over Louisiana Tech, 38-21.
Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson: Recovered a fumble, had two tackles for losses and a sack in win over Georgia Tech, 49-21. 2018
