NEWPORT BEACH, CA. – Colorado’s Travis Hunter has been named the Lott IMPACT® Trophy Player of the Week for week 1 of the 2023 college football season, as voted by a panel of Lott Trophy board members, former players and coaches, as well as members of the media.
Hunter’s Colorado debut was an impressive one, as he made a key interception, along with a pass defended and three tackles in the Buffaloes 45-42 win over #17 TCU.
Hunter is a two-way player for the Buffaloes, who played every defensive snap and was a part of 87% of offensive snaps. A member of the 2023 Lott IMPACT® Trophy preseason Watch List, Hunter is a former #1 overall recruit, and was the top ranked transfer in NCAA, coming with his coach Deion Sanders from Jackson State. Last season, Hunter was a finalist for the Jerry Rice award, given to the nations top FCS freshman.
The Lott IMPACT® Trophy is awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of athletics and recognizes college football’s Defensive Player of the Year who best exemplifies the IMPACT acronym: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

KAIMON RUCKER, LB, North Carolina, Sr.– Made eight tackles (six solo), with 5.5 for a loss, including two sacks in Tar Heels 31-17 win over South Carolina.
TREVIN WALLACE, LB, Kentucky, Jr. – Collected 12 tackles, 7 for a loss, with a sack, and forced a fumble that led to a touchdown in the Wildcats 44-14 win over Ball State.
