Army’s Matteson Named Week 2
Lott IMPACT® Trophy Player of the Week
Collin Matteson had an interception and broke up three passes in win over Kansas State
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Sept. 10, 2025 — The Lott IMPACT® Trophy presented by Allied Universal®, today announced Army West Point safety Colin Matteson has been named Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2025 college football season.
Matteson broke up three passes to go with an interception and made four tackles in the Black Knights 24-21 victory at Kansas State. The win was Army’s first against a Big 12 team since 2006, and was the first road win over a power conference program since 2016.
A senior at Army, Matteson is in his third season overall and first season as a starter. The Oklahoma native attended Oklahoma Christian School before majoring in management at West Point.
As part of the recognition, Allied Universal®, in conjunction with the Pacific Club IMPACT® Foundation, will make a donation to the scholarship fund of Army’s choice in Matteson’s honor.
Other nominees for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, presented by Allied Universal, Player of the Week in Week 2:
Jakari Embry, DB, Fresno St: Returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown to seal Bulldogs road win at Oregon State 36-27. Also had two tackles, one solo.
Tanner Heckel, CB, Illinois: Forced a fumble, made an interception, and had a sack, among two total tackles, in the Illini rout at Duke 45-19.
Jacob Redding, S, Baylor: Had an interception in the endzone to go with five tackles in Bears upset of then-#17 SMU 48-45.
