Texas Tech linebacker wins national award for second time this season after 14 tackle game vs #8 BYU.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Nov. 12, 2025 — The Lott IMPACT® Trophy presented by Allied Universal®, announced today Jacob Rodriguez, a linebacker from Texas Tech University, has been named Player of the Week for Week 11 of the 2025 college football season.

Rodriguez had a game-high 14 tackles, nine solo, one for a loss to go with an interception in Texas Tech’s 29-7 victory over #8 BYU.

This is the second Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week honor for Rodriguez this season, who also won in Week 4. Rodriguez is one of eight semifinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy. The winner will be announced on December 7, in Newport Beach, Calif.

As part of the recognition, Allied Universal, in conjunction with the Pacific Club IMPACT® Foundation, will make a donation to Texas Tech’s general scholarship fund in Rodriguez’s honor.

Other nominees for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, presented by Allied Universal, Player of the Week in Week 11:

KJ Bolden, DB, Georgia – Team best 10 tackles, four solo, one for a loss to go with a fumble recovery in the Bulldogs 41-21 win over Mississippi State.

Cooper Catalano, LB, Wisconsin – The true freshman had 19 tackles, 12 solo, in Wisconsin’s 13-10 win over #24 Washington, their first ranked win since 2021.

Aiden Fisher, LB, Indiana – Recovered a fumble and had an interception, both leading to scores, to go with nine tackles in return from injury as Indiana beat Penn State 27-24.
