NEWPORT BEACH, CA. –  Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson is the Lott IMPACT® Trophy Player of the Week for week 5 of the 2024 college football season. Lawson had a game high 10 tackles, 7 solo, 2.0 for a loss, including a sack, to go with a pass broken up in the Crimson Tide’s 41-34 win over #2 Georgia.

Lawson is the signal caller of the #1 Alabama defense and is their second leading tackler on the year. Lawson had an opportunity to be drafted after a stellar season and Rose Bowl performance last year but chose to remain at Alabama in pursuit of a collegiate national championship.

The Lott IMPACT® Trophy player of the week is determined by a panel of Lott Trophy board members, former players, and coaches, as well as members of the media along with an online fan vote.

The Lott IMPACT® Trophy is awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of athletics and recognizes college football’s Defensive Player of the Year who best exemplifies the IMPACT acronym: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
