Why fool around. Let’s just divide the NCAA football country into two divisions – East and West.
Who are we kidding? The Top Ranked teams in the country are all East of the Mississippi. Every year.
You can do your 2021 rankings right now with all the usual schools – Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame and some years LSU, Florida, Florida State or Auburn.
Those schools have won the last 14 national championships!
The West? Forget about it.
BYU is ranked No. 8 this week only because voters don’t know where Provo is.
The once great USC Trojans are undefeated, but that only gets them to No. 20!
It has long been asserted that the West doesn’t get enough recognition because their games are on so late in the East. But USC played at 9 in the morning two weeks ago and UCLA did he same this week. Does that help?
East is East and West is the rest as the new saying goes.

His Notre Dame team won only two games in 1956 while Hornung threw 13 interceptions and only three touchdowns. Jim Brown of Syracuse finished 5th and Jon Arnett of USC was 10th. Sports Information Director Roger Valdisseri is often cited as the reason Hornung won. Deservedly so if you look at the numbers.
