UCLA Linebacker Eric Kendricks has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 6-0, 230-pound senior from Fresno led the Bruins with 16 tackles in a 28-20 opening weekend victory over Virginia on the road.  Kendricks also forced a fumble that led to a touchdown and intercepted a pass and returned it 37 yards for another touchdown.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a donation of $1,000 to the general scholarship fund at UCLA to recognize Kendricks’ performance.

Kendricks is on the Watch List for the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, which will be presented Dec. 8 in Newport Beach, Ca.  The Lott award is the only major college award based on character.  IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics and Tenacity.

Kendricks is now sixth on the all-time career tackles list for UCLA with 348.  He led the Bruins in tackles each of the past two years.  He is also a six-time member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Listen to Eric Kendricks talk about his performance on Sports USA Radio:
