Tennessee’s A.J. Johnson Named Lott IMPACT Player of The Week

Tennessee Linebacker A.J. Johnson has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

Johnson had 10 tackles and a quarterback hurry in the Vols’ 45-42 overtime win over South Carolina Saturday.

For the season, Johnson, a 6-2, 245-pound senior, has 96 tackles, among the leaders in the country, with 8.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. He has 420 career tackles in his career at Knoxville. The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a donation of $1,000 to the general scholarship fund at Tennessee to recognize Johnson’s performance.

Other Nominees This Week:

Bud Dupree (Kentucky, DE): Had 2 ½ tackles for losses, 1 ½ sacks and 5 total tackles in loss to Missouri, 20-10.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (Oregon, CB): Had nine tackles in 45-16 win over Stanford.

David Helton (Duke, LB): Led team with career high 18 tackles (with one quarterback hurry) in double overtime win over Pitt, 51-48.

Hau’oli Kikaha (Washington, DE): Had two tackles for loss and one sack along with six tackles in win over Colorado, 38-23. He now has 15 ½ sacks to lead the nation.
