Ronnie Lott Named To 75th Anniversary All-America Team
- Updated: August 20, 2015
Ronnie Lott, who distinguished himself as one of the premier players in college football while starring for USC, has been named to the first team of the 75th anniversary All-American team by the Football Writer’s Assn. of America.
Lott has continued to make his mark on the game of football as the Lott IMPACT Trophy, named in honor of him, is now in its 12 season of honoring the top collegiate players who make an IMPACT on their team on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
Lott was a consensus All-American in 1980 and team captain. The 1978 Trojans were co-national champions.
One of the winners of the trophy, Luke Kuechly of Boston College, was named to the second team as was Merlin Olsen of Utah State, a former keynote speaker at the Lott IMPACT Trophy award dinner.
