Pitt’s Aaron Donald Named Lott IMPACT Player of the Week

NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – Pittsburgh’s Aaron Donald has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 6-0, 280-pound defensive tackle had another outstanding game Saturday, recording eight solo tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries. Donald added to his impressive game by blocking a PAT that enabled the Panthers to defeat Syracuse, 17-16, and become bowl eligible with their sixth win of the season.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a donation of $1,000 to the general scholarship fund at Pitt to recognize Donald’s performance.

Donald is one of nine semi-finalists for the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, which will be presented Dec. 8 in Newport Beach, Ca.  The Lott award is the only major college award based on character.  IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics and Tenacity.

He leads the country with 26 tackles for loss and has 10 sacks, four forced fumbles and 16 quarterback hurries.

Other notable performances by players on the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List were:

Chris Borland (LB, Wisconsin):  Led Badgers with 12 tackles, one tackle for a loss, recovered two fumbles and forced one in 20-7 win over Minnesota.  Borland now has an NCAA record 14 forced fumbles in his career.

James Morris (LB, Iowa): Led team with 8 tackles, 1.5 tackles for losses, one quarterback hurry and one pass broken up in 24-21 win over Michigan.

C.J. Mosley (LB, Alabama): Led Bama with 7 tackles, including 2 tackles for losses in another shutout win, 49-0 over Chattanooga.

Ryan Shazier (LB, Ohio State): Recorded a career high 20 tackles (16 solo) with 5 tackles for losses,  one sack, one forced fumble and one pass broken up in 42-14 win over Indiana.
