Ole Miss DE Robert Nkemdiche Named Lott IMPACT Trophy Player Of The Week

NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – Ole Miss Defensive End Robert Nkemdiche has been named the Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week.
The 6-4, 296-pound junior from Loganville, Georgia was a defensive force in the Rebels’ upset of Alabama, 43-37. Nkemdiche had 2.5 tackles for loss and six tackles in the game. He and his brother Denzel combined for a key sack late in the fourth quarter to preserve Ole Miss’ second straight victory over Alabama (and they have played each other 63 times). Ole Miss is 3-0 on the year.
In recognition of Nkemdiche’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Ole Miss.
Nkemdiche was also named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Other notable performances by players on the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List were:
DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon: Credited with 2.5 tackles for loss (one a sack) and a team high 7 tackles in win over Georgia State, 61-28.
Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida: Returned an interception 53 yards, had four tackles and broke up one pass in 14-9 win over Kentucky.
Jordan Lomax, LB, Iowa: Led Hawkeyes with 11 tackles in 27-24 win over Pitt.
Blake Martinez, LB, Stanford: Led team with 14 tackles in 41-31 win over USC.
Joshua Perry, LB, Ohio State: Led Buckeyes with 10 tackles, had one quarterback hurry and broke up one pass in 20-13 win over Northern Illinois.
Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State: Returned a fumble 37 yards for a touchdown to expand Florida State lead from 7-0 to 14-0. Also had six tackles and a kickoff return in 14-0 win.
Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame: Forced a fumble and returned it 17 yards, had five tackles and broke up two passes in win over Georgia Tech, 30-22.
