Michigan State’s Shilique Calhoun: A true leader in every sense of the word

The Spartan’s DE Shilique Calhoun was announced as one of the captains for his senior season and he merely brushed it off.  Not because he didn’t relish the responsibility or accolade but rather he looks at it as “All the seniors, everyone is a leader, everyone is a captain this year.  We all have to just be captains as a team, because we’re all leading this year.”
This bit of selflessness exemplifies why teammates look up to Calhoun, and where he draws his inspiration from shows just what kind of person he is.  “You don’t have to be a starter to be a leader on this team, and I’ve said it before you can lead from behind,” Calhoun said. “I’ve seen guys who are walk-ons who motivate me every single day. Chris Laneaux, AJ Troup … they were motivating me to come out to practice each and every day to work hard.”
