OFF THE FIELD

Michael Bennett is an incredible person, he a force as an interior defensive lineman and a thoughtful team-leader off the field. The son of parents who each graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Michael practices discipline in every area of his life. He is majoring in family resource management and has been named an OSU Scholar-Athlete.

ON THE FIELD

Bennett’s influence on the field was seen as soon as he walked on the campus of Ohio State, playing in all 13 games in 2011 as a true freshman. In his sophomore year Bennett battled through injury early in the season and ended up playing in eight games for the undefeated Buckeyes. Entering his junior year Bennett had the most experience along the defensive line and he played as if he did, performing like a leader, starting 13 games and amassing career highs in tackles (44) tackles-for-loss and yards (11.5 for 62) and quarterback sacks (7.5) and he ranked fourth in the Big Ten Conference in sacks and 15th in TFLs. For his performance he earned second-team all-Big Ten honors by both the coaches and media. Look for Bennett to have be the leader for the Buckeyes defense this season.
