OFF THE FIELD

Hayes Pullard, senior linebacker for the University of Southern California Trojans, has immediately captured the values of a leader on and off the field. In 2011, after his redshirt freshman year, he received the Bob Chandler Award, which is given to the Trojan “who exemplified the highest standards of moral character, commitment to family values and dedication to athletic excellence.” The following summer in 2012, Pullard and 15 other USC teammates traveled to Haiti to help build homes and bring relief to the families that were in need. Hayes displayed his commitment to academic excellence and his family by returning for his last year of eligibility to finish his degree at USC, a promise he made to his mom. Pullard also received the USC Trojan Way Leadership Award in 2013 and volunteered for the Special Olympics, in 2014, which was held at USC.

ON THE FIELD

Hayes Pullard is a four-year starter at linebacker and two-year captain for the Trojans. His freshmen season he made an immediate impact for the Trojan defense by co-leading the team in tackles with 81. After the season, Pullard was named a Pac-12 honorable mention, CollegeFootballNews.com first team Freshman All-American, and YahooSports.com and Phil Steele Freshman second team All-American. In Pullard’s sophomore season, he recorded 107 total tackles, the first time since 2004 a Trojan had at least 100 tackles. He made 2012 CollegeFootballNews.com Sophomore All-American honorable mention, Pac-12 honorable mention, and Phil Steele All-Pac-12 third team. Pullard had a team-high, 94 tackles, in his junior season. He made the 2013 All-Pac-12 second team and Phil Steele All-Pac-12 first team. In his final season, there are great expectations as a veteran leader of the stingy Trojan defense. He made the 2014 Preseason Phil Steele All Pac-12 First Team, 2014 Preseason All Pac-12 Second Team by Athlon, and 2014 Preseason All-American Third Team by Sporting News.
