Lott IMPACT Trophy | Honoring College Football's Defensive Best



Five Players Added to the 2017 Watch List


NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – Five players have been added to the 2017 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, it was announced today by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation.

The players are:

Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Junior, Virginia Tech, 6-5, 250, Ringgold, Virginia:
Leads team with 33 tackles and two forced fumbles; All-ACC Academic team.

Derwin James, DB, Junior, Florida State, 6-3, 211 Auburndale, Florida:
Projected top defensive back in NFL draft 2018. (projected No. 1 cornerback in draft).

Malik Jefferson, LB, Junior, Texas, 6-3, 240, Mesquite, Texas:
Had 11 tackles, 2 for losses against USC; Big 12 Academic Honor Roll; on Bednarik Watch List.

Devante Downs, LB, Senior, Cal, 6-3, 235, Mountlake Terrace, Wa:
Has 46 tackles (sixth in the country), 5 for losses, 2 forced fumbles and two interceptions;  majoring in legal studies.

Ben Burr-Kirven, LB, Senior, Washington, 6-0, 222, Menlo Park, Ca:
Leads undefeated Huskies with 32 tackles; CoSida academic All-American.
The five players immediately become eligible for the Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week, which awards $1,000 to the school’s general scholarship fund if the school’s player wins the award.
The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation sponsors the Lott IMPACT Trophy and has donated more than $1.4 million to universities and charities throughout the country.
