NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – Duke Safety Jeremy Cash has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 6-2, 210-pound senior from Miami was a huge defensive force in Duke’s 34-20 win over Georgia Tech. Cash not only led his team in tackles with 12, but three of those tackles were for losses and one was a sack. He also forced two fumbles and had four quarterback hurries.
Duke (3-1) held Georgia Tech to 173 rushing yards, 204 yards below their average.

In recognition of Cash’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Duke.

Cash, who is a two-time team captain, graduated from Duke in the spring with a degree in psychology and is now continuing his education by pursuing courses in liberal studies. In July, Cash told Paul Myerberg of USA Today: “Honestly, when people ask me, ‘Hey are you a football player,’ I always tell them no. I’m a student that plays football. I think there’s a difference because I don’t let football define the type of person I am.”

He is a returning All-American who leads the Blue Devils with 34 tackles and eight tackles for losses. He also won All-American honors as a sophomore after transferring from Ohio State. He could become the first three-time All-American in Duke history.

Other notable performances by players on the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List were:
