The Lott IMPACT Player of The Week is awarded to college football’s defensive player of the week. The award gives equal weight to both personal character as well as athletic performance.

NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – Pittsburgh’s Aaron Donald has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 6-0, 280-pound defensive tackle had another outstanding game Saturday, recording eight solo tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries. Donald added to his impressive game by blocking a PAT that enabled the Panthers to defeat Syracuse, 17-16, and become bowl eligible with their sixth win of the season.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a donation of $1,000 to the general scholarship fund at Pitt to recognize Donald’s performance.

Donald is one of nine semi-finalists for the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, which will be presented Dec. 8 in Newport Beach, Ca.  The Lott award is the only major college award based on character.  IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics and Tenacity.

He leads the country with 26 tackles for loss and has 10 sacks, four forced fumbles and 16 quarterback hurries.

Ohio State Linebacker Ryan Shazier has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week for the second time this season.

The 6-2, 230-pound senior led the Buckeyes with 16 tackles, including 3.5 for losses and forced a fumble in a 60-35 win over Illinois that kept the Buckeyes undefeated.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a donation of $1,000 to the general scholarship fund at Ohio State to recognize Shazier’s performance.

“He plays fast and with great confidence that has allowed him to excel,” says Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer.

For the season, Shazier leads the team with 88 tackles, 14.5 tackles for losses and three forced fumbles.

Alabama Linebacker C.J. Mosley has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week. The 6-2, 238-pound senior from Mobile, Alabama had a dominating game against LSU Saturday, recording a team high 12 tackles (one and a half for losses) and breaking up two passes in an impressive 38-17 win for the No. 1 ranked and undefeated (9-0) Tide.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a donation of $1,000 to the general scholarship fund at Alabama to recognize Mosley’s achievement.

Mosley is one of 20 quarter-finalists for the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, which will be presented Dec. 8 in Newport Beach, Ca. The Lott award is the only major college award based on character. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics and Tenacity.

“He’s like the captain of the ship,” defensive end Jeoffery Pagan told Sports Illustrated. “He comes out there. He gets the call. He relays it to everyone else. He controls everything.”
For the season, the returning All-American leads Alabama with 71 tackles, including seven tackles for losses.

Ohio State Linebacker Ryan Shazier has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week. The 6-2, 230-pound junior from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida had three tackles for loss, including two sacks, and seven total tackles as the Buckeyes rolled over Purdue, 56-0 last Saturday.

Shazier is one of 20 quarter-finalists for the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, which will be presented Dec. 8 in Newport Beach, Ca. The Lott award is the only major college award based on character. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics and Tenacity.
Shazier leads Ohio State with 73 tackles this season and has 245 for his career. He has 11 tackles for losses in 2013 and 33 for his career.

His biggest fan may be Ohio State Coach Urban Meyer who says of his star linebacker, “Ryan is one of the most incredible young men I’ve ever been around. He’s got a heart of gold.”

Iowa Linebacker James Morris has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week. The 6-2, 240-pound senior from Solon, Iowa had eight tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery in Iowa’s 17-10 win over Northwestern Saturday.

Morris is one of 20 quarter-finalists for the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, which will be presented Dec. 8 in Newport Beach, Ca.  The Lott award is the only major college award based on character.  IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics and Tenacity.

Morris has been an academic standout at Iowa, earning District VI Academic All-American honors and twice being named Academic All-Big Ten.  He was a 3.95 GPA student in high school and is a political science major at Iowa.

This season, Morris leads the Hawkeyes in tackles for loss (7.5), sacks (4) and interceptions (3).  He has 64 tackles on the year; 357 for his career.

Morris was a superstar in high school, being named all-state in Iowa three straight years and leading his team to three straight undefeated seasons.  On offense, he ran for over 6,500 yards and scored 110 touchdowns.

Florida State defensive back Lamarcus Joyner has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week. The 5-8, 190-pound senior from Ft. Lauderdale was a one-man wrecking crew against Clemson in a huge ACC showdown Saturday night.

Joyner forced two fumbles, the first leading directly to a touchdown, intercepted a pass, recorded one sack and eight total tackles in the impressive 51-14 win that kept the Seminoles undefeated at 6-0.

Myron Rolle, a Lott IMPACT Trophy finalist in 2008 after his superb career at Florida State, is a friend of Joyner’s and works out with him frequently.  “He’s a remarkable young man,” says Rolle, who was a Rhodes scholar.  “He handles himself with honor and esteem.  He’s also a natural leader, a role he embraces.  You often see him leading players in extra weight training sessions.  He’s great.”

“While obviously undersized, Joyner doesn’t shirk from contact. He welcomes it, in fact, and possesses excellent diagnosis skills, as well as the balance, agility and speed to handle coverage duties,” writes Rob Rang of CBS Sports.com.

Quarter-finalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced Oct. 23.

Baylor Linebacker Bryce Hager has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week. The 6-2, 235-pound junior from Austin, Texas led the Bears with a career high 18 tackles, including two tackles for losses and a sack, in a win over Kansas State, 35-25. Baylor is 5-0 and ranked No. 12 in the country.

In recognition of Hager’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Baylor.

Hager has been on the Big-12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and was an All Big-12 selection a year ago when he had 124 tackles. Earlier this season, he returned a fumble 91 yards for a touchdown against Buffalo.His father, Britt, was the All-American and the all-time leading tackler at Texas. Quarter-finalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced Oct. 23.

UCLA Linebacker Eric Kendricks has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 6-0, 228-pound junior from Fresno led the Bruins with 13 tackles and had one of the six interceptions that led to a 34-27 win over Utah last week.

In recognition of Kendricks’ performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at UCLA.

Kendricks is the second Bruin to win the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week award, following teammate Anthony Barr, the Week 3 recipient. It is the fifth time in six weeks that the winner was from the Pac-12.

Kendricks led the Pac-12 in tackles last season with 150, which is the highest total in UCLA history behind only former All-American Jerry Robinson. Kendricks’ father Marv was the Bruins’ leading rusher in both 1970 and 1971.

A political science major, Kendricks has made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll four times in his UCLA career. “He’s a leader on this team,” says Bruin head coach Jim Mora. “To have him out there in the huddle, directing things and looking like he did (after an injury this past summer) is a great thing for us.”

NEWPORT BEACH, CA. – Arizona State Safety Alden Darby has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 5-11, 195-pound senior from Long Beach, California, had two interceptions – one returned for a 46-yard touchdown, and a forced fumble that he recovered in a 62-41 win over USC.

In recognition of Darby’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Arizona State.

Darby’s big plays were instrumental in ASU’ s stunning rout of USC. The turnovers he created led to 17 points. The Sun Devils’ co-captain had also returned an interception for a 70-yard touchdown last season in a win over USC.

Darby has overcome long odds to become a successful student-athlete. As a teenager, his single mother was arrested and spent three months in prison, leaving Darby to fend for himself. He lived home alone with no electricity for that period of time.

At Arizona State, he is one of the most popular players in the community and frequently asked to speak to youth groups. “People really respond to him, respond to his message,” said Jean Boyd, the Senior Associate Athletic Director at the university.

The victory kept the No. 3 ranked Tigers undefeated at 3-0.

In recognition of Shuey’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Clemson.

Shuey is a two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member who has graduated with a degree in management. He didn’t become a starter until mid-way through his third season (2012) at Clemson. “He’s willed himself into the player he is now,” says defensive coordinator Brent Venables. “I’ve never had to ask him to do something twice.”

Stephon Tuitt (Notre Dame, DE): Had 6 tackles, one sack and a quarterback hurry in 17-13 win over Michigan State, holding the Spartans to 254 yards in total offense.

UCLA Linebacker Anthony Barr Player of the Week

NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – UCLA Linebacker Anthony Barr has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 6-4, 245-pound senior from San Pedro, Ca. forced three fumbles and had a team high 11 tackles, including two for losses, in UCLA’s impressive come-from-behind win at Nebraska Saturday, 41-21.

In recognition of Barr’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at UCLA.

Said Nebraska Offensive Line Coach John Garrison of Barr: “You don’t see many guys with his length, speed and physicality.  It’s pretty rare. That’s what makes him a pretty special player.”

Barr had a breakout junior season in 2012 with 21.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks.

Ibraheim Campbell (Northwestern, DB): Had an interception for the third time in three games as Wildcats remained undefeated with 38-17 win over Western Michigan.

Scott Crichton (Oregon State, DT): Forced a fumble, recorded a sack, had two tackles for losses and seven total tackles in 51-48 overtime win against Utah.

Aaron Donald (Pittsburgh, DL): Four tackles for loss, two sacks and two quarterback hurries in 49-27 win over New Mexico.

C.J. Moseley (Alabama, LB): Led Alabama with 12 tackles in 49-42 shootout win over Texas A&M.

Ryan Shazier (Ohio State, LB): Had team high 12 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in win over Cal, 52-34.

Jack Tyler (Virginia Tech, LB): Led team with six tackles, two for losses with a sack in 15-10 win over East Carolina.

NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – Stanford safety Ed Reynolds has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 6-2, 206-pound senior from Orange Park, Florida was had a team high 12 tackles and one interception in Stanford’s 34-13 victory over San Jose State.

In recognition of  Reynolds’ performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at Stanford.

“He (Reynolds) is one of the best safeties in the nation,” said Stanford Coach David Shaw.  “He’s proven that.  We count on him to be smart and be a good communicator.”

Reynolds led the Pac-12 with six interceptions last season and is on all pre-season All-American teams.

Steele DiVitto (Boston College, LB): Recorded 10 tackles and was credited with breaking up one pass in win over Wake Forest, 24-10.

Jake Fischer (Arizona LB): Had a 49-yard interception return for a touchdown in 58-13 win over UNLV.

Bryce Hager (Baylor, LB): Returned a fumble 91 yards for a touchdown and had a pair of tackles in 70-13 rout of Buffalo.

Jack Tyler (Virginia Tech, LB): Led team with 11 tackles and had a quarterback  hurry in 45-3 win over West Carolina.

Kyle Van Noy (BYU, LB): Had four quarterback hurries, 8 tackles and a sack in win over Texas, 40-21.

Ty Zimmerman (Kansas State, S): Returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown and had four tackles in win over Louisiana Lafayette, 48-27.

Player of the week - Devon Kennard

NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. – USC’s Devon Kennard has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week.

The 6-3, 255-pound senior from Phoenix was credited with two tackles for loss (one a sack), two pass breakups, one quarterback hurry and three tackles in the Trojans’  30-13 victory over Hawaii.

In recognition of Kennard’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsors of the Lott IMPACT Trophy, will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at USC.

Kennard, who missed all of 2012, is also an honors student, carrying a 3.23 grade point average.  He graduated from USC in the spring of 2012 and is currently working on a master’s degree in communications.  He’s a two-time conference academic honoree and a team captain this season.

Geoffrey Bacon (Army, S): Had team high 12.5 tackles (9 solo) after moving from linebacker to safety.  Cadets opened with 28-12 win over Morgan State.

Max Bullough (Michigan State, LB): Led Spartans with 9 tackles and had 2.5 tackles for loss in win over Western Michigan, 26-13.

Ibraheim Campbell (Northwestern, S): Had 8 tackles and an interception in 44-30 win over Cal.

Eric Kendricks (UCLA, LB): Led Bruins with 9.5 tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass breakup in win over Nevada, 38-20.

Ryan Shazier (Ohio State, LB): Had 7 tackles, one tackle for loss and a pass breakup in win over Buffalo, 40-20.
