2015 California Showcase To Be Held February 21st
- Updated: February 16, 2015
The California Showcase provides as many qualified student athletes as possible with the opportunity to receive a scholarship in order to pursue a college education and degree at a Division II, III, or NAIA school while playing and participating in the great game of college football. The 2015 event will be held Saturday, February 21st from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Orange County Great Park, Irvine, CA.
Sponsored by the National Football Foundation and run by former UCLA Hall of Fame Coach Terry Donahue (a member of the Lott IMPACT Trophy Board of Directors) and his staff, the Showcase is a free, one-day event that was a cross between job fair and football practice.
In 2014, 575 high schoolers tried out for 50 Division II, Division III and NAIA universities. All with their eye on the golden ring – a scholarship to play football in college.
The average scholarship awarded through the CA Showcase was approximately $20,544 per year, per student. In the first two years thats equals $3,537,511 in financial aid packages granted to athletes for one year of college. This is your chance to prove yourself.
It’s a total non-profit event,” said Donahue, who works tirelessly on the project for months ahead of time. “It’s free to the colleges and the players. Nobody is making a dime. It’s just a great opportunity for kids to go to college.”
